The game also dispenses with the typical skill trees: passive abilities are arranged on a rotating shield, which allows you to combine skills from different categories to create unique synergies. One of them is the system of asymmetric armor, which allows you to wear different types of armor on the left and right shoulder. However, the creators from Wolcen Studio introduced a few solutions to the gameplay that brought some freshness to the beaten patterns of the genre. During the battles we use a wide arsenal of weapons (each of the available weapon models has different mechanics and combos available), armor and magical abilities. The action of the game is observed from an isometric perspective, and during the exploration we do a lot of main and side quests, most of which focus on fighting monsters and other enemies. In the overall gameplay premise of Wolcen: Lords Of Mayhem doesn't deviate much from the standards set by modern hack'n'slash productions. If the Republic of Humans is defeated, the world will change beyond recognition. In addition, a new enemy appears on the horizon - the Alliance of the Blind - eager to restore power to the fallen Prince of Fury Ahriman.

There, however, not everything goes according to plan - underground beings known as Svriir have almost completely destroyed the city. When the Republic of Humans is at war with the Brotherhood of the Dawn, the team is assigned to Gerald Heimlock's troops, whose goal is to take over the enemy's capital, Stormfall. With time, all three become powerful warriors. There the group undergoes an exceptionally grueling training.

After this event the protagonist, together with his friends - Valeria and Edrik - joins a military academy. In Wolcen: Lords Of Mayhem the player assumes the role of a character (woman or man) saved in childhood by an officer of the United Republic of Humans, Gerald Heimlock.

The title was financed largely through a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The game was created by Wolcen Studio, a debut French studio made up of young developers who share the passion and experience in working with the CryEngine. Wolcen: Lords Of Mayhem is an action RPG maintained in the gloomy style of dark fantasy.
